Pizza Tricks and Tips

Okay, So my friend Leah and a random checkout lady helped save me when it comes to pizza.  Sometimes you just want a piece of pizza with pepperoni on it. Or at least I do!  So far I know of two choices:
         1. Papa John’s crust is vegan and so is their sauce, so you order a pizza with no cheese on it and whatever toppings you want/can eat.  I get it delivered, and immediately after it comes, I melt a little bit of the Daiya (mozzarella style shreds) cheese on it (See products section) under the broiler.  Warning, I don’t like to use too much of the Daiya because it’s really rich and it has a bit of an after taste, but it does the job of satisfying the pizza craving.   Warning:  Papa John’s thin crust pizza HAS DAIRY IN IT!  The original crust does not, according to their allergen guide here.
 2. Mellow Mushroom offers vegan cheese at most if not all of their locations.   Now that Mellow Mushroom is in most college towns and even some non-college towns now, and if you’re lucky like we are they will deliver it to your house!  You can order any pizza on the menu that you want and they will use vegan cheese if you request it.  Be aware that if it says the pizza comes with goat cheese or parmesan you need to get them to leave it off!  When we were first doing no dairy I ordered a meatball sub there with vegan cheese as well, but I didn’t check to make sure that the meatballs weren’t made with cheese (rookie mistake) but if you or your child isn’t super sensitive like we are, you could totally order the meatball sub and just get them to put the daiya cheese on it, it’s delicious!

3. Also, According to Papa Murphy’s web site, their crusts are dairy free, but are manufactured on shared equipment with dairy items, so cross contamination may be an issue!  If you are interested in other allergen information from Papa Murphy’s check out their allergen guide here. Thanks to Jessica for the info!
If anybody has any other pizza tips, I’d LOVE to know them and put them on here for everybody else to read!
